Show Notes:
History
For many reasons, women have historically taken a backseat in finances. But today, we see that trend change. Whether because they are equal earners in the household or because they are needing to manage finances for themselves.
Empower Women
The stigma needs to be removed that investments or taking care of your financial future must be done by men. The availability of information allows women to learn and do for themselves. This is not being taught in schools, but that doesn't mean that we can't still learn.
Teaching
Involve your child in the decisions you make. Explain your logic and reasoning for financial purchases. Use and teach a budget and how to manage your money.
The more you can understand the numbers of your organization, the better you can communicate with your board members as well as your donors.
Female Leadership
Females offer a different perspective than males. And anytime you are looking for a solution, those multiple perspectives are needed. There is a noticeable difference in women coming forward with their financial ideas and questions.
Advice for Young Leaders
Research something simple like a 401K and how to get started with that. There are plenty of websites out there to get started with. The language and terminology can be intimidating but can be overcome easily through research.
Behind the Scenes
Being able to see behind the scenes on the financial side of the church allows her to understand what it costs to run a church. It also helps her make discerning choices in what charitable organizations to support because she can understand the finances.
