St. Paul Catholic Center in Bloomington, IN. 

 

Primary Functions: 

The Director of Annual Giving leads and manages St. Paul Catholic Center’s stewardship of resident parishioners and is primarily responsible for creating, leading, and managing Annual Giving. The Director also supports various other projects in the area of mission advancement, stewardship, and development. This entails meeting, cultivating, and soliciting resident parishioners, alumni, parents of alumni, parents of current students, and current students upon graduation through prospective and current donor phone calls, in-person meetings, appeals, and assistance in event execution. This individual also ensures consistent and effective branded marketing and communications in company websites, print communications, and advertising to achieve strategic goals and help the on-going success of ministerial programs and operations.

 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Donor Relations
    • Facilitate and enhance personal relationships and touch points with benefactors
      • Weekly thank you notes for first time and increased gifts; new families; birthdays; and anniversaries
      • Regular calls, notes, and visits with monthly givers
    • Coordinate Hoosier Catholic Alumni Association
      • Organize meetings of Alumni Association
      • Organize homecoming tailgate in the Fall and Young Alumni Gathering in the Spring
    • Development Events
      • Organize one dinner for supporters with Pastor and/or Director of Mission Advancement per quarter
      • Assist with the execution of special events for St. Paul Catholic Center
  • Manage Annual Giving
    • Manage annual stewardship plan for Sunday and Holy Day collections
    • Create, maintain, and execute a comprehensive annual fund plan for monthly/regular donations from benefactors outside of the residential community (students, alumni, parents, and others)
    • Coordinate Annual Appeals:
      • Back-to-school/Parents’ Appeal
      • Giving Tuesday
      • Year-end appeal
      • Easter appeal
    • Monthly/Regular Giving
      • Work with first-time donors after their gift and steward them to monthly/ongoing financial support
      • Identify, cultivate, and solicit high volume/low dollar gifts from new donors and increased giving from regular donors.
    • Donor Visits
      • 3-5 visits per week via phone, video call, or in person, and , provide appropriate communication before and after meetings
      • Ask for 5-10 gifts/giving increases per month
  • Prospect Research and Qualification
    • Identify and cultivate non-givers to increase pool of potential supporters
    • Maintain an active pool of prospective benefactors of parents and alumni who can support the organization with a focus on qualifying, soliciting and stewarding first-time donors.
    • Qualify potential givers by visiting on the phone or in person and asking if they would give to St. Paul
  • Electronic Giving and Database Management
    • Manage electronic giving, including updates to content, functionality and integration
    • Database Management
      • Manage and update online donor database regularly
      • Basic input of data for donors from outside of the parish
      • Perform annual review, reorganization and cleaning of database, in particular ensuring parishioner data is up-to-date.
    • Produce and supervise mailing of year-end tax receipts in January
  • Communications and Marketing
    • Create and implement marketing and communications program for collections and donors.
    • Produce and coordinate the distribution of 3 annual newsletters, which includes:
      • Bi-annual (Fall and Spring) newsletter
      • Annual Parish Financial and Stewardship Report (Summer)
    • Develop and update fundraising brochures and fliers, logos, letterheads, banners, video testimonials of students, and other marketing materials for the advancement of St. Paul Catholic Center, its student ministries and its development program.
  • General Development Office Responsibilities
    • Positively represent to the highest standard of ethics and in a professional manner, St. Paul Catholic Center and the Archdiocese of Indianapolis
    • Other duties as assigned by the Pastor and Director of Mission Advancement in support of the St. Paul Catholic Center’s, its fund development program, ministries and operations.

 

Skills and Abilities: 

  • Passion, enthusiasm and an affinity for the mission of St. Paul Catholic Center, and the ability to effectively communicate it via marketing efforts.
  • Good communication skills with an aptitude for public speaking.
  • Commitment to continuous learning.
  • Thoroughness in planning and implementing work, including goals, timetables, and formulating action steps to achieve objectives.
  • Ability to be flexible, work independently on a variety of projects, within stated deadlines, in a fast-paced office environment.
  • Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills to work with staff, students, board members, donors, volunteers and vendors.
  • Familiarity and skill with tools of the trade in marketing including PR, written communications, website development, market research, branding, and promotions.

 

Position Specifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Computer Skills
  • Fundraising experience preferred but not required
  • A valid driver’s license and reliable means of transportation.
  • Ability to manage a marketing operational budget.
  • Must be able to understand and to comply with the Archdiocese of Indianapolis Code of Conduct
  • Must be able to complete successfully the Archdiocese of Indianapolis Child Safety Training
  • Background screening required

 

Working Environment:

  • Occasional remote and hybrid work possible, with the approval and advanced notice to the Director of Mission Advancement and Pastor
  • Expected to maintain regularly scheduled hours on-site at St. Paul’s
  • Normal work hours require weekdays, evenings, and weekends
  • Regular day-trips and occasional overnight travel and long-distance driving required
  • Safeguard sensitive information
  • 30 minutes for prayer/reflection/daily Mass attendance is considered part of the work schedule
