Grant Specialist

Monica Dolenc, MBA is a mission-driven professional with 15 years of experience in effective communication strategy, cultivating successful fundraising initiatives & grant proposals, creating & implementing winning development/sales strategies, education & program management, donor & foundation relations, client/member services, government affairs, and marketing & outreach in both non-profit and public environments.

She is currently the Director of Education Operations & Strategic Initiatives for the Independent Electrical Contractors (IEC), the premier association for the merit-shop electrical contracting trade. In this capacity she trains and advises IEC’s 52-chapter network on how to research, compose, and manage various grant opportunities to address workforce development needs. Prior to this role, she served as Grants Officer for Ohio’s fourth largest community college, Stark State College, and its sister organization, the Stark State College Foundation. Monica was responsible for researching and writing all public
and private grant opportunities, including those from federal, state, corporate, and foundation sources.

She planned, developed, and implemented the annual grant development agenda for the College, and served as the Principal Investigator (PI) working closely with funders to ensure proper grants management of awarded funds. She also worked for The Philanthropy Roundtable where she became well-versed in preserving American philanthropy and donor intent which significantly aided her grant-writing craft.

Monica earned her B.A. in Communication Studies and Theatre with a Public Relations minor from Saint Mary’s College in Notre Dame, Indiana, and her MBA in Executive Management from Walsh University in North Canton, Ohio. Monica is also proud to serve as a Board Member for The Gift Card Project; and, as Secretary of the Board and Public Relations Director for the Servant of God Rhoda Wise Shrine, Inc. and her Cause for Canonization. She currently resides in Canton, Ohio with her husband and two daughters.
